Let's be honest, planning a wedding is one of the most incredible feats that is expected of every couple no matter their background. And it can be TOTALLY overwhelming and stressful! And so, we get it, adding honeymoon planning on top of all that can feel completely unrealistic. I started Jövo because I found myself in that exact situation, but then ended up having a perfectly sweet honeymoon and plans for more adventures to come! These are my tips and tricks to planning a stress-free honeymoon in the midst of the crazy wedding planning.
1. Start With the Vibe, Not the Details
On one of those days when you just CANNOT think about the seating chart anymore, take some time to decompress, and, literally, think of a happy place. For me, that was a quiet mountain getaway in Canada; for others that's snorkeling in Panama; and still others that could be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Don't overthink it, just let yourself envision your happy place for a few moments. No need to start planning everything right away.
2. Use a Travel Registry
When my husband and I were getting married, we were doubly overwhelmed thinking about all the pots, pans, plates, etc. that we would have to pick...
What if they didn't match the vibe of our next home? Did we really want to have to pack and move everything? What if once we had it all ordered we didn't actually like it?
So...we decided to build a travel registry instead. It was SO FUN!! Genuinely it was one of my favorite parts of the entire wedding process. Jövo makes it super easy to create a registry. All you have to do is pick a place, use a pre-made registry or build your own with an AI companion, and share it with your guests!
3. Don’t Overpack Your Itinerary
It’s tempting to try to “do it all,” especially if you’re traveling somewhere new. But remember: this trip is about the two of you. Build in time to rest, wander, or order room service without guilt. A few thoughtfully chosen activities are always better than a jam-packed schedule.
4. Work With Your Wedding Timeline
If your wedding is right before peak travel season (or you’re feeling the budget squeeze), consider a mini-moon right after the wedding and save your big adventure for a few months later, or even for your one-year anniversary. That way, you have something exciting to look forward to — without piling more logistics on top of wedding week. Plus, it's a great way to keep in touch with your loved ones, sending them a post card one year later from wherever you went on behalf of their gift!
5. Keep It Flexible
Flights get delayed, weather shifts, energy levels drop. Leave space to pivot. Jövo travel registries are all made available to you as cash; meaning that you are never at risk of a "no-refund" in the event of the unexpected.
✨ Your honeymoon should feel like the reward at the end of all your planning. With a little intention (and help from loved ones through your registry), you can keep it stress-free and unforgettable.
